A Practical Introduction to NGS Data Analysis and Variant Calling, September 2026 (Munich)

From September 9–11, 2026, we hosted our in-person workshop “A Practical Introduction to NGS Data Analysis and Variant Calling” in Munich, Germany. Over three intensive days, 15 participants worked through the essential steps of modern NGS data analysis, from quality control and read mapping to alignment inspection and an introduction to DNA variant calling and interpretation.
This time, we welcomed participants from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Kuwait, Poland, and Portugal. Their diverse scientific backgrounds created an excellent learning environment and brought together different perspectives from molecular biology, biomedical research, and applied life sciences.
What made this workshop particularly memorable for us was the atmosphere. The group was open, friendly, and engaged from the very beginning. Questions were thoughtful and practical, discussions developed naturally, and the interaction between participants was outstanding throughout the course.
Many conversations continued during the breaks and after the training sessions. It was one of those groups in which people genuinely connected, exchanged experiences, and shared their professional interests. We are quite certain that several new professional contacts, and perhaps even friendships, were formed during these three days. We rarely experience such strong personal interaction and networking within a course.
Despite the demanding schedule, the atmosphere remained relaxed and collaborative. Participants supported each other, discussed their own projects, and shared ideas and experiences. This made the workshop highly dynamic and enjoyable for everyone involved.
We very much enjoyed spending these days together and would like to thank all participants for contributing to such a positive and motivating learning environment. We hope to meet many of them again, whether in an advanced workshop, another in-person course, or an on-site training.
We regularly offer introductory and advanced NGS data analysis courses, both online and in person, and look forward to welcoming new participants to our upcoming workshops.
